His Royal Highness, Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu-Gambari CFR, the 11th Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council since 1995, is a distinguished jurist and custodian of the Shehu Alimi dynasty. Prior to ascending the throne, he served as Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division. Recognized as one of the foremost traditional rulers in Northern Nigeria, he embodies a legacy of leadership, scholarship, and service.
Born on 22 April 1940, His Royal Highness began his education at Native Authority School, Ilorin, before advancing to Offa Grammar School. He later pursued studies in England at Oakham School, City Westminster College, Middle Temple, and the University of London, culminating in his legal training at the Nigerian Law School.
His professional career includes service as Permanent Secretary and Solicitor-General in the former Gongola State, Judge of the Bauchi High Court (1976), and Justice of the Court of Appeal (1978), where he rose to become Presiding Justice before his enthronement.
