The statutory function of a University is, as acclaimed world-wide, to promote sustainable development through teaching, conduct of research and development and to render community service for the orderly maintenance of social infrastructure. The way and manner by which Universities play this important contemporary function, has no doubt, been strengthened by the emergence of that branch of technology, referred to as Information and Communications Technology (ICT), which facilitates the smooth flow of information, particularly electronically, throughout university campuses, their neighboring communities and larger society.

A website, which is one of the services supported by ICT, has become and is duly acknowledged as one of the most effective and efficient means of dissemination information about a University not only to prospective candidates seeking admissions into both academic and commercial programmes, but also to those already admitted. The website serves also as a reliable information outlet for members of the University Community, as well as neighboring communities and society. Furthermore, Universities all over the world use their websites to attract research linkages, assistance from national and international development agencies in order to fulfill their statutory obligations to society.

 The Bayero University Kano, recognizing the importance of the website, has deliberately invested in human and material resources to facilitate its gradual but sustained development, in order for it to serve as a dynamic and reliable source of information   not only about the history of the University, but also about Faculties, Departments and units, academic programmes as well as research and development activities.

 As you navigate our website you will be able to observe, pictorially, the serenity and beauty of our campuses and, textually, the excellent diversity of our academic programmes and research activities which together culminate in making Bayero University Kano one of the best citadel of learning in Nigeria.
