The Registrars Office
This is the administrative nerve centre of the University where all administrative matters are processed.  The Registrar, apart from being the chief administrative officer of the University, is also the Secretary to the Governing Council.  He is the Head of the Registry Department.  The department currently has four divisions, namely, Academic, Establishment, Housing, and Publications and Documentation Divisions; and four units under the Office of the Registrar, namely, Council Affairs, Legal Matters, Staff Training, and Pension.

i. Council Affairs
The unit which is under the Office of the Registrar serves as the secretariat of the University Council.  It was created out of what used to be the Council and Senate Unit.  The Senate Unit has been moved to the Academic Division of the Registry Department.
The Council Affairs unit also carries out other functions on behalf of the Registrar, such as custody of the University common seal, degree and other certificates, and other duties assigned by the Registrar.  The following officers have assisted the Registrar in the unit since its inception:

    * Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, Deputy Registrar          2001 - 2003
    * Mrs. Habiba A. Adeiza, Deputy Registrar      2003 - 2005
    * Victor A. Obadele, Prin. Asst. Registrar       2005 - date

ii. Legal Matters
As its name implies, this unit handles legal matters of the University.  It advises the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar on matters requiring legal interpretation, preparation of legal documents, etc.  Barr. Mato had earlier been appointed in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor to perform this function, but after his resignation Barr. Abubakar S. Umar was appointed in May 2003.  He liaises with the University external legal adviser, Dr. E. S. Mosugu to perform this function.  The unit has been doing marvelous job for the University on all legal issues affecting the University.

iii. Staff Training
This unit is responsible for the processing of non-teaching staff training matters which include staff training development, seminars and conferences, as well as being the secretariat of the Non-Teaching Staff Training Committee under the Registrar.
Mrs. O. Duro-Bello, Deputy Registrar, was posted to the unit in 2003 when it was created as the Staff Training Coordinator.  Before this time, staff training matters were treated in the Establishment Division.

iv. Pension
The Pension Unit is the unit that liaises with the Establishment Division and the Bursary Department to process gratuities and pension of retired members of staff, and death benefits to dependants of deceased staff.  The unit came into existence in 2000.  Mallam Sabo Mijinyawa, Deputy Registrar, was posted to head the unit.
