When this institution became a full-fledged University in 1977, it became necessary for a Publications Division to be set up in the Registry Department to handle information and publications duties.
This division started as the Information and Publications Division. It was, however, split into two in 2005 with the creation of the Information and Documentation Division under the Office of the Registrar.
The division fulfils two important aspects of the University administration - collecting, collating and publication of Official Bulletin and Gazette; submitting materials to publishers of telephone directories, Nigeria Yearbook, Association of Commonwealth Universities Yearbook; collecting, collating and compiling materials for University publications such as Student Handbook, Calendar of Events, Prospectus, Annual Report, etc.
