NUC Verification Team

The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Haruna Musa, on Monday, April 20, 2026, received a resource verification team from the National Universities Commission for the assessment of the Doctor of Physiotherapy programme.

Leading the delegation, Christopher Olusanjo Akosile of Nnamdi Azikiwe University said the exercise would evaluate the availability and adequacy of human and material resources, as well as the department’s readiness to commence the programme.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the team and expressed satisfaction with the transition from the Bachelor’s degree to the Doctor of Physiotherapy, describing it as a strategic move to strengthen professional training and address critical gaps in healthcare delivery. He noted that the exercise, being a peer review process, would help identify areas for improvement, assuring the team of the university’s commitment to meeting all required standards.

The upgrade of the programme follows the introduction of the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), which necessitated the transition from Bachelor of Physiotherapy to the Doctor of Physiotherapy qualification in Nigerian universities.

Other members of the NUC team included Alhaji Umar Lapai, Deputy Director of Academic Planning at the Commission, and the panel secretary, Malam Nazifi Jamilu.
