FUNCTIONS OF ACADEMIC PLANNING UNIT (APU)
The responsibilities of the Academic Planning Unit (APU) revolve mainly around improving Teaching and Learning and generally academic activities in the University. Such responsibilities include:-
* Supply of Teaching and Learning Equipments (TRE) to Departments, Laboratories, Workshops, Theatres, Libraries etc.
* Assisting the University to determine and abide by its Carrying Capacity
* Assisting the University to abide by the Student – Teacher Ratio (STR)
* Coordinating all Accreditation and Reaccreditation visits by NUC and other professional bodies by making Departments ready for it
* Sensitizing University Academic Staff by organizing Local and National Seminars on topical issues of Academic concern
* Guiding important senate committees such as Senate Committee on Accreditation, Senate Committee on Affiliation and Linkages, Academic Development Committee, etc
* Improving the quality of Academic Administration by among other things institutionalizing Faculty ranking
* Serving as the go-between the University and the NUC
* Ensure the conduciveness of the Learning environment by making sure, for example, that the white boards, public address system, illumination etc are all in order
* Master minding the creation of any such measures capable of streamlining academic programme along the line of international standards, i.e. coordinating the introduction of entrepreneurship education centres.
