DG ICRISAT Visits BUK, Promises More Collaborative Opportunities

The Director-General of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Dr Peter Carberry, visited Bayero University, Kano on Thursday, 25th April, 2019 and promised that the two institutions would explore more opportunities for collaboration.

ICRISAT is an international organization which conducts agricultural research for rural development, headquartered in Patancheru (Hyderabad, India) with several regional centres.

It is one of the strongest partners of Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) of Bayero University, Kano.

BUK Selected to Host PASET PhD Programmes …One of Top 7 Winning African Universities Out of 144

Bayero University has been selected to serve as one of the host universities for Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET), a Pan African Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF) PhD programmes.

On Thursday, 9th May, 2019, the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF) of PASET sent a congratulatory letter to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello on the selection of BUK as one of the institutions to host its PhD programmes.

40th Professorial Inaugural Lecture: Taxation Can Bridge the Gap between the Rich and Poor in Nigeria

Taxation is a necessary tool to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor of any developing nation. This was disclosed by a renowned Professor of Accounting and Taxation of Bayero University, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, while delivering his Professorial Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, 2nd May, 2019, at Musa Abdullahi Auditorium, New Campus. The lecture was themed: The Accounting in Humanity Knows no Bounds.

NNPC Builds Multi-Million Naira Civil Engineering Complex in BUK

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has signed a memorandum of understanding to build an ultra-modern complex of the Department of Civil Engineering in Bayero University, Kano.

NNPC and Bayero University had signed the MoU on Thursday, 18th April, 2019 at the Vice Chancellor’s Committee Room. The project will cost three hundred and ninety seven million two hundred and eighty five thousand eight hundred and six naira (N397,285,806.25).

BUK Competitively Chosen for Validation of PASET’s PhD Programmes

Bayero University, Kano was competitively chosen for validation of the Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET’s) Pan African Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF) PhD programmes, said a validation team leader, Dr Moses Osiru, while briefing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello of the team’s mission in BUK on 18th April, 2019.

BUK Matriculates 8, 090 New Students

Bayero University has matriculated eight thousand ninety (8,090) students who have been admitted into the University in the current 2018/2019 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello congratulated the new students for gaining admission into one of the best universities in Nigeria, saying that “you have found yourselves lucky to be among the newly admitted students.”

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud (SAN) has expressed concern over the lingering insecurity situation in Nigeria which has threatened its socio-political and economic setting, saying that northern Nigeria in particular and Nigeria as a whole may be sleeping in a grave of time bomb. He said unless authorities, community and leaders, as well as other stakeholders move strongly to address this challenge, the repercussion could damage the future of the country.
