2019/2020 Screening Exercise for Newly Admitted Students

This is to inform all admitted candidates in the 2019/2020 academic session that the screening and registration exercise are scheduled to commence from 18th November, 2019 to 20th December, 2019. They are expected do the following:

  1. Visit JAMB website and accept the admission (caps.jamb.gov.ng)
  2. Print JAMB admission letter from the JAMB website
  3. Visit BUK portal (www.buk.edu.ng) and print the unofficial admission letter.

BUK Receives Accreditation Teams for MBBS, Education, Others

Bayero University, Kano on Monday, 28th October, 2019 received accreditation teams for four programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The programmes being accredited are: MBBS, Science and Technology Education (STE), Fisheries and Aquaculture and Education Geography.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who received the teams at the University's Senate Chamber welcomed them and assured that the University would give them all the necessary cooperation to conduct their assignments successfully.

BUK Programs Get International Accreditation

French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) has granted a five-year unreserved international accreditation status on two programmes of the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Bayero University, Kano (BUK). The two programmes have satisfied all the requirements and accreditation standards set aside by the body. This came after a rigorous evaluation process involving self-evaluation, desk reviews, and an on-site visit. The Programs accredited are MSc Natural Resource Management and Climate Change and MSc Agronomy (Crops and Cropping Systems in Drylands).

Over 12,000 Candidates Write BUK Aptitude Test

A total of 12,209 candidates sat for the 2019 Bayero University, Kano Aptitude Test (BUKAT), according to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Adamu Idris Tanko on Saturday, 17th August, 2019.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor said 15,817 applied to BUK for the 2019/2020 admission exercise, out of which a total of 12,209 participated in the screening exercise, although some candidates might have missed the exercise.

BUK Expels 24 Students Over Falsification of Entry Qualification

A total of twenty-four (24) students of Bayero University, Kano, mostly in their final year of study were expelled from the University for falsification of their entry qualifications. Their expulsion was approved by the Senate of the University at its 374th meeting held on Wednesday, 31st July, 2019.

NRI Team Visits BUK to Strengthen Collaboration with CDA

A team from Natural Resources Institute (NRI), Greenwich University, United Kingdom, led by its Director, Professor Andrew Westby, visited Bayero University, on Tuesday, 30th July, 2019, to strengthen collaboration with the Centre for Dryland Agriculture.

NRI has a multi-disciplinary approach that uniquely integrates capability in scientific research and technology development with capacity in agricultural economics and social science in order to achieve sustainable benefits for the developing world.

NOTAP Commissions Multi-Million Naira Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office in BUK

The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), on Wednesday, 24th July, 2019, commissioned a multi-million Naira Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO) in Bayero University. The aim is to promote and protect intellectual property rights, as well as raise awareness about intellectual property among researchers.
