Prof Borodo’s Colloquium: 18m Nigerians Infected with Hepatitis Virus – Prof Malu

Eighteen million Nigerians have been infected with hepatitis virus and most of them are unaware with it due to ignorance and lack of proper medical check up, Professor Abraham Orkurga Malu of the Department of Medicine University of Jos, has said.

BUK Matriculates 7, 343 New Students

Bayero University on Thursday, 5th March, 2020 matriculated a total of 7,343 newly admitted students for the 2019/2020 academic session. Of this number, 4,773 (65%) are males while 2,570 (35%) are females.

The admission statistics shows that the University has succeeded in surpassing the national requirements of 60% students in science based  in its admission, as 4992 (68%) are in science based disciplines while only 2, 351 (32%) are in arts based.

BUK’s Matriculation for New Students Comes up Thursday 5 March

The Matriculation for new students in the current 2019/2020 academic session of Bayero University, Kano comes up on Thursday, 5th March, 2020 at Convocation Arena at 2pm.

A statement signed by the Director, Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records (DEAR), Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi, on behalf of the Registrar, Fatima Binta Mohammed, said the newly admitted students are expected to be fully dressed in Academic Gown to be collected from the Directorate from Monday, 2nd March, 2020 upon payment of N1000 via remitta.

BUK’s Digital Campus Radio Commissioned

Bayero University, Kano’s modern digital radio studio in the Faculty of Communication was commissioned on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020. The digital Campus Radio, which operates on 98.9 FM, is the first of its kind installed in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions with equipment of international standards. It serves as a training ground for students in broadcast journalism.

Lassa Fever: BUK Conducts Sensitization Lecture on Preventive Measures

In view of the major concern raised by the spread of Lassa fever in Nigeria with 258 confirmed cases in 2020 according to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Bayero University on Thursday, 30th January, 2020 conducted a sensitization lecture to educate members of the community and the general public on the danger posed by the virus and the preventive measures.
